Every winter, Icehotel is built again from ice cut out of the Torne River. Artists from around the world design the art suites, so the rooms change from one season to the next.
Guests sleep in thermal bags on beds of ice, at a few degrees below zero. Warm rooms are on site for those who want one night cold and the rest in comfort. A year-round ice building keeps some of the art on show in summer too, when the midnight sun replaces the northern lights.
